Monitor internet traffic during the World Cup
Internet accelerator Akamai developed a web monitoring tool that gives an insight in internet traffic during the World Cup in South Africa. Akamai says fans will experience the World Cup like never before, watching live streams of the game, checking the news, sharing stories and photos.
Apparently the World Cup 2010 already set a first World Record: during the Mexico-South-Africa game, internet traffic peaked to nearly 12.1 million people per minute. The previous record of 8.5 million visitors per minute was set when Barack Obama won the U.S. presidential election in 2008.
